Friday 19th July
Last day of the school year!
It's the final day of the school year. We all have mixed emotions today: excitement and relief that we have reached the summer holidays, and sadness as we say goodbye to our lovely year 6 children, and those who leave members of staff who leave us today.
On Tuesday evening, we enjoyed a wonderful choral concert at St Edmund's Church with our Year 3 and 4 children. They have been taught by Mr Ellson all year and have learnt so much from him. The children sang a collection of traditional folk songs and hymns. Our Yr 4 dancers performed their liturgical dance which they prepared for the Good Shepherd Liturgy at Worth Abbey a few weeks ago. It was a lovely evening, and we were delighted to have so many children and families together in the church to hear the children sing.
On Wednesday morning, we all walked to Ladywell Convent, where we had a special liturgy for our Year 6 leavers in the chapel. We thought about each of the children, and they were presented with little prayer books, which, we hope will always remind them of their time at St Edmund's.
Our 'Award and Leavers assembly' is always a favourite with everyone. We can laugh and reminisce as we think about how much the children have grown and changed during their time with us. This morning we had great fun looking at the photos of our Year 6 children before they started school, aged four. We are very proud of them all, of the wonderful young people they have become and of all they have achieved. The children pictured above received awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement: Searlait; Achievement in Sports: Freddie D and Alisia, the Governors Award for most improvement: Ambrose; the Ethos award: Jacob; the McCarthy Cup for team spirit in sport: Angelika and the Sherman Award for perseverance and stepping up in drama: Sully. They were all very well deserved winners.
We wish all our children and St Edmund's families a wonderful, peaceful summer holiday. Good luck to those who leave us today and see the rest of you back in September for the new school year.
Happy holidays everyone!
