First Communion Celebration and Young Musician of the Year!

I hope everyone had a lovely half-term break. We are back for the final half-term of this academic year. It is always a busy time in school and I know that with so many events and trips taking place, the time will fly past.

We started our week with an INSET day. The teachers were at Watts Gallery, where we looked at their resources and their latest educational offer. We also did some sketching and made our own terracotta tiles. In the past, we had taken every child and made the terracotta pieces you may have seen by the front of the school. We will certainly be taking some of the children next year as it's a wonderful place for them to learn about art and the local community.

This morning, our Year 4 children led a special assembly, sharing the joy of their First Communions. Having the whole class together, seeing their beautiful dresses and smart outfits was really lovely.

Yesterday evening, I was at Cardinal Newman School in Hersham for the Xavier Trust Young Musician of the Year Competition. The standard was particularly high, with children playing an amazing range of instruments and pieces from classical to rock! We were all delighted when Ambrose from Year 6 was announced as the winner. He is a very talented violinist and wowed the judges with his performance of Tango Habanera. He was amazing! Very well done to Ambrose -Young Musician of the Year!
